Queen Charlotte, also known as Sophia Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, was born on May 19, 1744, in the Duchy of Mecklenburg-Strelitz in Germany. She became the Queen consort of King George III of Great Britain and Ireland when they married on September 8, 1761.
Queen Charlotte is known for her cultural and intellectual interests, as well as her philanthropic activities. She supported and patronized various arts, literature, and music, contributing to the flourishing of British culture during her time as queen.
